Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center at the "Napoli Shipping Week"
Five days dedicated to the maritime economy, supported by Intesa Sanpaolo and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center
.From September 30 to October 5, the “Napoli Shipping Week” took place, attracting around 8,000 industry professionals across more than 50 events, with 130 partners and 320 qualified speakers. The Shipping Week, co-sponsored by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Intesa Sanpaolo, is a highly significant event on the international scene, dedicated to the development of the port logistics system, focusing on technological innovation and discussions about business transformation and open innovation opportunities in the sector.
The 2024 edition was promoted and supported by major players in the maritime economy, including AssArmatori, Assoporti, Grimaldi Group, and with the collaboration of Studi e Ricerche per il Mezzogiorno as Knowledge Partner.
Naples Shipping Week hosted its main conference, the 16th edition of Port&ShippingTech, a forum focused on cutting-edge technological innovations aimed at fostering the development of the maritime-port-logistics system. It is Italy's leading conference dedicated to the shipping and port logistics sector. The event provided a platform for discussions among institutions, academia, and both national and international players on key topics in the sector: from geopolitics to the blue economy, from the energy crisis to the green transition, and new technologies.
Several speakers from the Intesa Sanpaolo Group participated in the main conference, which was focused on business development for companies. Among them were Anna Roscio - Executive Director Sales & Marketing for Enterprises at Intesa Sanpaolo, and Giuseppe Nargi - Regional Director for Campania, Calabria, and Sicily at Intesa Sanpaolo.
The contribution of the Innovation Center
For the Innovation Center, already engaged in the Maritime Ventures project, the Shipping Week was a valuable opportunity to discuss business models, sourcing, energy use, and marine resources, as well as approaches to the energy and environmental transition in shipping and the port economy.
On October 4, in particular, the Innovation Center took part in the main conference, Port & Shipping Tech, alongside other stakeholders. It presented the report "X-Plore Ocean – Nutrition, sustainability, technology," the ecosystem activities it is involved in, and outlined its project to support, by providing its services and know-how, the implementation of a call4startup dedicated to the Blue Economy in support of NextGeo Solutions (an Italian company operating internationally, offering marine geoscience and offshore construction services). Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center portfolio startup Test1 also contributed to the event, showcasing its innovative system for absorbing hydrocarbons spilled into the sea.
