In Action Esg CLIMATE is the initiative promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo Vita and Fideuram Vita to support the ecological transition, in which Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center collaborates as a technical partner.
Now in its third edition, the initiative aims to reward three Italian companies that will present innovative projects with a significant and measurable impact in favor of the ecological transition in the "Sustainable and Renewable Energy", "Blue Economy", "Smart Manufacturing", " Agritech”, “Sustainable Lifestyle”. The proposals must be able to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption, and promote the use of energy from renewable sources, the responsible use of natural resources, the reduction of waste produced and the development of the circular economy, indicating operational results (KPI) achievable within 12 months of presentation of the plan.

The call4ideas will close on April 22nd, after which the candidate projects will be evaluated by a jury of experts in a complex selection process and the winners will be announced by the end of September.
The companies that present the best project for innovation and with a significant and demonstrable impact to facilitate the ecological transition will be given a cash contribution for a total amount of 500,000 Euros divided as follows:

• 1st place 250,000.00 Euros
• 2nd place 150,000.00 Euros
• 3rd place 100,000.00 Euros

Target

In order to better describe the sectors based on the drivers relating to cross industry technologies in the broad scope of Climate Tech, we provide some examples below:

Sustainable and Renewable Energy

Renewable energies: production of renewable energy from innovative sources; solar and wind energy with innovative systems; agrivoltaic systems; optimization of Infrastructure for Renewable Energy (smart grid); Energy storage systems.

Optimization of the use of resources: recovery and valorisation of technical by-products for the production of alternative fuels (e.g. synthetic fuels, e-fuels); recovery and valorization of biological by-products for the production of organic-based fuels (e.g. Biogas and Biomethane).

Blue Economy

Marine Resources and Blue Biotechnology: water culture (e.g. algae), underwater artificial vision, hydroacoustic technologies, technologies for fish traceability (e.g. 3D laser profilemetry, hyperspectral technology), intelligent fishing nets, preservation of the marine ecosystem through use of fishing equipment deriving from biobased and biodegradable raw materials, valorisation solutions for organic by-products of the fishing industry;Optimization of the use of water resources: treatment and reuse of waste water or water used in production processes; smart water infrastructure; smart meters specialized in monitoring flows and aimed at reducing consumption and reducing waste; extraction of water from the air (solutions for independence from the water network in critical contexts and arid areas).

Smart Manufacturing

Technologies and new materials that support decarbonization processes: 3D printing; additive manufacturing; IoT sensors; digital twins, technologies for tracking materials and products; use of innovative renewable, recycled/recovered materials; bio-based packaging; innovative circular materials (e.g. nanotech, recombinant biotech); sustainable home automation (smart warehouse);
Business models that support decarbonization processes: solutions for maximizing the efficiency of production assets (e.g. remote assistance, predictive maintenance, servitization); intelligent logistics and product traceability solutions (Reverse logistics); design to increase product life and for easy disassembly and recycling; recovery and valorisation solutions for processing waste (e.g. upcycling); design for the reuse of products and packaging (e.g. re-use, refurbishment,).

Agritech

Smart agriculture: precision agriculture; Vertical Farming; aquaponics and aeroponics techniques; regenerative agriculture; innovative techniques for the production and use of soil improvers and bio fertilizers; technologies for tracking the production chain; new soil carbon storage solutions; promotion of biodiversity; new bioremediation techniques; recovery and reuse of agricultural biomass and by-products from a circular perspective; recovery of nitrogen and phosphorus; climate prediction solutions; space imaging (I use satellite images in combination with cameras, sensors, and IoT devices).

Sustainable Lifestyle

Circular Behavior: innovation of models of use of goods and services oriented towards sustainability and the circular economy (e.g. extension of useful life of products, marketplace for reuse, sharing models, take back models for product repairs); technological solutions aimed at directing more conscious and less impactful consumer choices; digital platforms for quantifying the reduction of natural resources and CO2;
Innovative Education: paths to improve awareness of the environmental impact of one's daily actions; solutions that introduce gamification principles to address consumption habits; educational digital platforms for the promotion of sustainable lifestyles.

The Initiative is aimed solely at companies that have their registered office in Italy and have been established for at least 12 months, belonging to at least one of the following categories:

a) Innovative startups registered in the appropriate Register;
b) Innovative SMEs registered in the appropriate Register;
c) Joint-stock companies not falling within the previous categories, but established for less than 5 years (at the date of registration) with an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euros
