New materials and metamaterials, advanced electroacoustic solutions, and wireless power transmission technologies are now moving beyond the research context to become concrete areas of industrial transformation.

For Ideofarm, Powersoft’s Innovation Garage, the ability to identify innovative technologies and guide them toward scalable applications becomes a key competitive factor.

With this goal, the Call4Innovation for Deep Tech & New Materials was created. An international program designed to connect startups, researchers, spin-offs, and innovators with an industrial organization focused on applied research and technological development.

The initiative is carried out by Ideofarm in collaboration with the Circular Economy Lab - an initiative of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Cariplo Factory - which contributes to the program through scouting activities, connections with the innovation ecosystem, and support in enhancing the submitted applications.

The objective of the Call4Innovation for Deep Tech & New Materials is to bring research and industry together, creating a direct connection hub between deep-tech startups and industry, fostering experimentation, validation, and collaboration paths that can accelerate technology transfer and reduce the distance between idea and application.

About Ideofarm

Ideofarm is the center for innovation, applied research, and technological development of Powersoft. Its function is to explore, experiment with, and transform high-potential ideas into validated technologies, functional prototypes, and scalable solutions.

Operating in a strongly engineering-driven environment, Ideofarm works in areas such as electroacoustics, mechatronics, new materials, artificial intelligence, and advanced software, collaborating with startups, universities, and industrial partners throughout the entire technological development process.

Within the Powersoft ecosystem, it plays  a strategic role in identifying emerging technologies and building connections abetween research and industry.

Target

The program is aimed at startups developing technologies that are already validated or in an advanced stage of development, with a clear application potential and prospects for industrialization.

The focus is on solutions capable of generating real impact in their respective sectors, contributing to the evolution of products and complex systems.

Technologies with a maturity level between TRL 4 and TRL 7 will be considered—namely, solutions already tested in laboratory settings or relevant environments and close to industrial validation.

Areas of interest

New Materials and Metamaterials
The evolution of materials is currently one of the main drivers of industrial transformation. New solutions can help improve product performance, reduce weight, increase energy efficiency, and introduce innovative functionalities.

We are interested in startups developing innovative materials and architectures capable of generating concrete competitive advantages and opening up new application opportunities.

Examples of solutions of interest include:

  • advanced composite materials;
  • acoustic metamaterials for controlling sound propagation and absorption;
  • materials capable of altering their physical properties based on control variables.

Electroacoustics
Innovation in the field of electroacoustics is opening up new opportunities to improve sound quality, efficiency, and intelligent sound management. The integration of hardware, advanced sensors, and intelligent software is redefining how audio systems are designed, controlled, and used.

Through this call, we aim to connect with startups developing innovative approaches that can contribute to the next generation of professional audio systems and intelligent audio services.

Examples of solutions of interest include:

  • new transducers and speakers based on innovative materials, topologies, and geometries;
  • acoustic transducers and sensors;
  • vibration and modal control technologies;
  • advanced thermal management solutions;
  • intelligent systems for monitoring and managing audio performance;
  • technologies for adaptive, personalized, or contextual audio.

Wireless Power Transmission
Wireless power transmission is one of the enabling technologies for the evolution of connected devices, distributed sensors, and next-generation electronic systems. Eliminating or reducing the need for wiring can simplify device integration, improve reliability, and enable new application scenarios.

We are looking for startups developing innovative solutions for the efficient transfer of energy without physical connections, with particular attention to industrial and consumer applications.

Areas of interest include:

  • Wireless Power Transfer solutions that can be integrated into industrial or consumer devices.

What the Call4Innovation for Deep Tech & New Materials offers

Selected startups will take part in a direct engagement path with an industrial environment focused on experimentation and technological collaboration.

The goal is not only to identify promising solutions, but to concretely explore their development and application potential.

Depending on the level of technological maturity and strategic potential, different collaboration paths may be activated, such as technical validation activities, development of Proofs of Concept, industrial or commercial partnerships, and investment opportunities.

Among the opportunities, there is also potential access to Ideofarm’s acceleration program—a structured path offering support from concept validation to the development of a first MVP, providing technical expertise, R&D infrastructure, mentoring, and strategic guidance.

Following the opening phase of the call, an analysis and assessment phase focused on the technology, the team, and the application potential will take place.

The most promising entities will then be invited to access the final phase of the program, and finalist startups will have the opportunity to present their technology at Demo Day, within a context dedicated to dialogue between industry, research, and innovation
