Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center for female-led businesses offers an immersive experience in London’s innovative ecosystem

Female entrepreneurship is growing all over the world

In recent years, women have conquered an increasingly significant space in the traditionally male dominated entrepreneurial world. Female entrepreneurship has favored a significant increase in profits, a diversified workforce and a push towards work-life balance.

38%* of the global workforce is female and 37%** of businesses are owned by women. It is on average more difficult for women to obtain the necessary funds, although a study carried out by Boston Consulting Group shows that startups founded or co-founded by women generate twice the return on investments compared to those founded only by men.

Despite the difficulties, the women show great resilience and passion. In 2022***, approximately 35% of all patent applications worldwide had at least one woman as inventor, while 96% of applications had at least one man as inventor, a growing figure considering that less than 30% of women worldwide are educated in STEM. While on the one hand the scenario shows a positive evolution, there is still a lot to do to create the best conditions for women who want to do business on a global level.

London: an attractive ecosystem for women, selected by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center to offer an immersive experience to Italian entrepreneurs

The UK capital has been classified as the best city for female entrepreneurship; the entire London ecosystem is worth 364 billion dollars¹ and has the highest percentage of female led companies (19.8%)². London is also ranked second Best Ecosystem Globally in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2023, the most complete and widespread annual report on startups in the world, with data from 3.5 million companies in 290 entrepreneurial innovation ecosystems.

Many are the reasons leading Women entrepreneurs to discover such an advanced and attractive ecosystem.
