A meeting to discuss the topic of critical raw materials and itsimplications for economic and industrial sectors

On September 16th, the Italian Embassy in London hosted the Critical Raw Materials Conference: Challenges and Opportunities for Economic and Industrial Sectors. During the event, Luigi Ruggerone - Senior Director of Business and Innovation Research at Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center - presented the "Critical Raw Materials Report." The report provides an in-depth overview of supply chain vulnerabilities, the environmental and social impacts of critical raw material extraction, and examines various industrial applications of these materials, with a particular focus on strategic technologies and sectors.

Industry experts, corporates, and startups

Following the report presentation, a panel was held featuring several key players in the sector, who discussed the highly strategic and delicate topic of critical raw materials. Daniel Quiggin, Senior Research Fellow at the Environment and Society Centre at Chatham House, opened the session with an overview of the geopolitical situation. The next panel addressed how corporates are tackling the challenge of critical raw materials, featuring Glenn Round, Executive Partner - Risk and Revenue Sharing Partnerships at Rolls Royce, Henry Finnegan, CFO at Techmet, and Davide Pescini, Director at Cope Alloys.

The event also provided two startups with the opportunity to present their solutions and explore the technological content with the audience. These were Sinergy Flow S.r.l. and Novac S.r.l., rapidly growing companies from Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center's portfolio.

The meeting was organized by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and the London Branch of Intesa Sanpaolo, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United Kingdom (ICCIUK), which represents the local Italian-British business community and promotes commercial relations between Italy and the United Kingdom.
