Smart Mobility Tech Tour in Israel, an immersive mission in the Israeli ecosystem

From May 21st to 24th, 12 Italian companies represented by 19 clients and partners of Intesa Sanpaolo Group visted Israel as part of the Smart Mobility Tech Tour organized by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center with the collaboration of Israel Italy Chamber of Commerce. The delegation was hosted and accompanied by Dani SchaumannGlobal Country Advisor of Intesa Sanpaolo in Israel, and Clelia Di ConsiglioSecretary-General at the Israel Italy Chamber of Commerce.

During the 4 days Tech Tour the delegation had the opportunity to visit few excellent centers in the smart transportation sector as Drive TLV (the innovation HUB founded by a consortium of Volvo, Honda and Hertz) and Quantum (an innovation center with focus on automotive, logistics, energy and industry 4.0 lead by big corporate as Hyundai & KIA), where they met few interesting tech startups active in the mobility sector.

The agenda started with an exclusive event “Meet the Italian Smart Mobility Corporates” organized by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Israel Italy Chamber of Commerce in the presence of around 120 attendees. The successful initiative was inaugurated by the Italian vice Ambassador in Israel and the economic attaché of the Italian Embassy greeted the participants and emphasized the importance of this initiative as a concrete step towards enhancing the business relations between Italy & Israel. Among the present panelists, Rosanna Viola Head of Business Development of Piemonte Agency for Investments expressed the interest of Piedmont companies, toward the Israeli innovative landscape, followed by Yael WeissHead of Climate Tech Department at Startup Nation Central, who emphasized the correlation between “Sustainability and Smart Mobility”, ending with Neta GruberEurope Desk Director of Israel Innovation Authority who gave a very clear and direct outlook of the “Collaboration programs for Italian and Israeli companies”.

EcoMotion, 3.000 visitors and 250 stands

The B2B Meetings one of the most important moments of the session, gave the possibility to the Italian delegation of businesses (Aeroporti di Roma - Agrati - CNH - FTP Iveco - Icona Design Group - ItalDesign - Mista Spa - Mundys - Promotec srl - SYS-tek SB Srl - Telepass - Zoppas industries) to participate at approximately 80 dedicated B2B meetings with 25 Israeli tech companies of the sector who were present at the event aiming to create new synergies and business opportunities.

The Tech Tour included the visit at the well-known international mobility Fair EcoMotion, which welcomed more than 3.000 visitors, and 250 stands of Israeli startups belonging to the areas of Autonomous & Connected vehicles – Mobility Services – Electrification & Energy – Drones & Aviation and Supply Chain. The Italian delegation could follow the conference panels, where worldwide experts and top managers of the main automobility houses (BMW, Audi, Ford, Hyundai, Renault, Honda, Jaguar, Scania) held interesting speeches and discussions. Within the Fair the delegation met also with Israeli startups at their stands.

In the last day the group visited the old city of Jerusalem and its iconic Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Armenian quarters. The experience, always highly appreciated, gives the opportunity to have a complete outlook of the virtuous Israeli ecosystem, from one side innovative and from the other deeply connected to its cultural roots. In 2023 Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center will organize new Tech Tours dedicated to the Intesa Sanpaolo Group clients, with a specific focus on Climate Change and on Women Entrepreneurship.
