Smau, the reference platform in Italy for matching between supply and demand for innovation, has expanded its scope of activity since 2015, including, in addition to the usual stage in Milan, also numerous events abroad involving the main international innovative ecosystems such as Paris, London and San Francisco.

The 2023 edition of Smau Paris therefore took place from March 22nd to 24th , designed to create a "bridge" between the Italian innovation ecosystem, the Parisian Hub and the French market, encouraging local investors and entrepreneurs to discover how Italian startups and incubators are constantly expanding and growing.

Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center was the protagonist of the three-day event in Paris as main partner, with the aim of overseeing new innovative ecosystems and using the Smau platform to get in touch with investors, accelerators and international operators active in the Open Innovation’s field.

Smau Paris 2023 following a consolidated format started Wednesday 22 with a "networking cocktail" welcome at the Embassy of Italy Paris dedicated to investors, corporate and major players of the ecosystem of Parisian and French startups, continuing Thursday with the highlight event SMAU | Italy RestartsUp to end on 24 March with a tour between accelerators and incubators of the city useful to encourage the creation of new partnerships with representatives of the Italian ecosystem.

Held at Station F (the largest startup campus in Europe), the event Italy | RestartsUp in Paris - organized in collaboration with ICE - allowed a selection of 40 Italian startups to show their products and services to an audience made up of investors, corporates, enablers and other local startups through pitches and matching sessions.

Furthermore, representatives of the Italian and Parisian innovation ecosystem took part in five panels focused on Food & Retail, Smart Manufacturing, Energy & Environment, eHealth and Smart Mobility.

Vincenzo Antonetti - Head of Innovation Network Development of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center - spoke in the panel “Mobility: let’s move and innovate together” focused on the need to develop new technological processes for transport and mobility by responding to the needs of consumers with real regard to  the environment.

After a quick overview of the future trends of Smart Mobility, Antonetti addressed the following topics:

  • Intesa Sanpaolo Ecosystem Program: Turin Cities of The Future_Techstars Accelerator - a concrete project to promote synergies between Financial Institutions, Companies, Startups and Municipalities.
  • Open Innovation for Enterprises and Institutions to promote the growth of the Smart Mobility sector.
  • Promotion of the Smart Mobility Tech Tour that will be held in Israel 21st to 24 May and will be aimed at SMEs and Italian companies interested in activating synergies with the StartUp Nation's technological ecosystem

The day at Station F allowed Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center to meet numerous startups, corporate and international funds, thus fueling the deal-flow of technology companies that are part of the company’s portfolio of innovative companies.

Finally, synergies with the Intesa Sanpaolo branch in Paris allowed the evaluation of possible collaborations with Italian and international corporations that participated in the initiative, also with the aim of generating new business opportunities for the Group’s IMI CIB Division.
