Infrastructure & Construction - Sustainable Cities
The report analyses the evolution of cities toward a smart and sustainable model, considering the projected increase in urban population by 2050. The importance of public and private sector participation, resident engagement and technology adoption to support this growth is emphasized. The three main themes that will shape the cities of the future are resilience, quality of life and productivity. The importance of taking steps to address climate change is also highlighted, with the goal of decarbonizing cities by monitoring and reducing carbon emissions. Sustainable solutions are described such as farming in a controlled environment, using buildings made from materials that allow the storage of elements such as carbon dioxide, using artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of HVAC systems, and geothermal energy for heating and cooling cities.
